LOVE

What is love??? It is a deep emotional feeling, enslaving the heart and soul,to the object of desire... passion; possessiveness , want and desire to belong whole heartedly; to be a part of that object of obsession and having captured the essence of similiar wavelengths..the flow of bliss, contentment, peace and utter fulfilment.

Love is only the beginging, commitment, life long care, understanding and acceptance must flow in and grow in strength if love is to be substain everlasting..

Sigh!!!!

YT went visiting yesterday, back to her old rice mill. The moment she walked in, it was nostalgic. So many smiles, so many hello, so many screams" how nice to see you, how have you been keeping???!"..so many hands clasping hers, so many friends...and she wonders, what was she thinking, leaving a cosy nest full of warm people?? Sure the distance kills....the traffic jam sucks ..Sure there were nasties...every place has them but the good- really over weighs the bad and YT sure misses real good people, she considered as friends and there were so many autumn roses in that place just like her...they spoke the same language, proud of their wrinkles and grey hair..proud mothers, yes, even that pair of dentures...was a topic, heartily discussed...Nice !...Sigh! She sure misses people who doesn't care about positions and climbing that corporate ladder anymore!Just getting a job well done without involving politics!

Ever wonder why life leads one into pathways that looks more like a maze than a highway?? OR When the highway jams and you turn into the side path, hoping to reach your destination faster but #@!!&?? you end up more boxed in than before??? Have any of you ever wonder why life allowed us to make wrong decisions and then watch us cry over spilt milk, then whacked us hard on our bottom ..shooing. us to get up and get moving on the double???

Guess that is the story of life, full of lessons to be learnt, wisdom to be gained, wounds to be licked and bandaged, getting up from each fall stronger and waking up to reality that though the grass may look greener on the other side, sometimes, it could just be an illusion. After tasting bitter and detoxing the gateway to good health....Peoople! the wise thing to do is....perhaps... learn patience, be satisfied and thankful with what is given...that life has given us that much blessings...what else ...more so, if you had stepped into Autumn's door???

Confession

I have a dreadful fear of confessions, confessing to sins, misdeeds, saucy thoughts and intentions, anger, bad, bad, schemes and just about everything else..Telling it to another person..??? No, not another person, but a holy servant of God..but still??? I am most comfortable whispering them into the ears of my God, and God alone...because nothing is secret with God..He sees and knows everything....so..it's not so much of unveiling a secret; it is finding the courage to own up to one's wrong doings..and resolve to sin no more..

I guess, that's why most of us pick priests who do not know us so that we need not blush the next time, we see them at mass. But then again, confessions is wisdom in itself, because it is an unloading of one's guilt within, things that we are not able to unload to another soul but if we do not reveal our dark secrets, it would probably stress us so much, it would end up killing us ultimately. A secret -no matter how dark, how dirty or unspeakable once unloaded goes straight into the rubbish bin, thrown out of your conscience and some sort of healing takes place. You go away comforted, cleanse and happier and the very act of doing penance is a joy because, you are given the chance to make peace with God and yourself.

People, irrespective of what religion you belong to, practice unloading of baggages and doing charitable works and you will find the world a better and happier place to live in.

An experience to share

Yours Truly was at this particular function last night and boy! was it the "D" word! Everything you could imagine went wrong!Blushes, embarrassment and if time could be brought to a stand still and re tracked for just a little while to fix things up a little........ and her heart just went out to the very hard working organisers of what was meant to be a very prestigious affair! My sympathies gentlemen!

Absolutely not their fault-just misguided trust in the abilities of a clubhouse to handle such events and boy, did this clubhouse let them down! And badly! From signage to lights, snacks and horror of horrors-the sound system! The microphone went dead just when the guest of honour was about to give his speech!Yours Truly was horrified when the Guest of Honour stood up and started to give his speech without the mike for a good ten minutes, before the sound system was restored. Hats off Honourable Guest! You were magnificent and absolutely awesome! No displeasure, no irritation, just smiles and a very pleasant demeanour! A total peoples' man deserving of the peoples' trust, confidence and all their votes! We love you!

To add to their woes, the food was dreadful! Yours Truly 'tau pau" some back and had to launch operation rework before the tongues of the home folks would taste and savour of the food. Mr. ClubHouse, you should be brought to task!

Yours Truly learnt something valuable last night and came away, humbled. She saw the smouldering volcano beneath; the displeasure of careful plannings went wrong but the Organisers were so dignified ... the smiles and calm exterior of this group of organising CEOs and heads of organisation, faced with such calamity?? what else could she termed it???? were so admirable; astonishingly calm. They were Oh! so diplomatic and so very charming, all of them..... It makes a person feel so proud to be associated with such leaders and counted as a member of their team. YT does not know how her friend feels, but their kindness and humanity certainly want a person to bring excellence into their work just so that ..this group of bosses might be held up to stand shining on a high platform, like the strong and sturdy lighthouse -strong, firm, unshaken and unflinching in the face of thrashing tempest, icy wind and raging storm..

Perhaps, this type of function might be better handled by a hotel than a clubhouse, (or at least a clubhouse more savvy with organising such events).. not for any reason but the mere fact that hotels cater for such activities; it is one of their main roles and they have the expertise and the staff not only to handle such events but are expected to give suggestions and recommendations and if the event ever went wrong and the fault is theirs, you could always demand for compensation and they would have no choice but to give in to your demand after all, their reputation is at stake, and so is yours.

The "Adultery" Word

A different meaning of adultery was expounded by a respected someone last weekend, seen from a different angle of a 3D mirror. I always thought of adultery as a forbidden love affair, between two persons who had no right to be enjoying each other's company, in the eyes of the public of course; stolen moments of sexual gratification, outside the sanctuary of marriage..etc..etc..

Adultery, this special someone, said is more than that, so long as we indulged in things which goes against the teachings and commandments of our God, it is a form of adultery and we, everyone of us had fallen prey to this shortcoming....this form of adultery. After all we are humans, made from dust., with sin, inborn..a mass of flesh and emotions and so terribly venerable in our own ways and it is so easy to fall into the trap of this Adultery word. We worship money, power , yes...the physic of our fellow humans ...wow! look at those guys or gals, real hot and we stare! etc..etc...and that- people! makes us the "A" word. I don't about you folks out there- but Yours Truly fantasizes aplenty about unreachable things, forbidden fruits etc.. etc...yah, even sometimes sizzling thoughts, hot enough to cook up a spicy dish.

Me thinks that though our body may grow old ; our mind and thoughts remains evergreen and ever young and our passion remains a certain high until we return to dust. The aged and old are bland with no more passion left in them??? Stuff & nonsense!!!That is pure myth!Their feelings, and secret thoughts would probably put the younger folks to shame with their intensity! And yes, they are in some ways in danger of being labelled adulterous but happy adulterers at that! The sting had somewhat left the "A" word given its big and broad defination. Interesting!

Cheng Beng

It is astonishing how an air of hopeful expectancy could hang over a deserted graveyard. Yes, Hopeful that children and loved ones could come and carry out that which is expected of them. It is the season of paying respect to the departed and yang influence somehow starts gathering to surround the silent graveyard. The graveyard actually comes alive with positiveness, in anticipation of the invasion of the living for their yearly ritual of grave cleaning and filial respect......Cemeteries loses its morbid atmosphere...no creepy feeling, no fears...it is as though the silent occupations of the other dimension, waiting for the coming of loved ones to pay their yearly respects had join hands to clear the entire region of negative influences, guaranteeing safe passage and safe presence to the living visitors during the season of Cheng Beng.

Respect and honour does not vanish with death. It continues to be cherished in the hearts and memories of the living. The love, our departed parents had showered upon us, their sacrifices etc..etc....remains fixed within us.....let us take some time to remember and honour them.....and whisper our thanks and gratitude for their lifelong care of us. In our fast paced and materialistic world, it is so easy to forget the people who had lived their lives for us....and had passed on...at least once a year...let our memory come alive and we remember them....Thank you and..rest in peace...

Hurt

A hurt is a breaking feeling, bruising the heart , gasps of anguish and pain overwhelming the resources of peace and calm within. It is tears bursting forth from deep within; imprisoning the mind in its sadden state...Wailing like a broken down record player..

A hurt needs to be healed and fixed. Broken hearts pieced back together. It needs the most sturdy broom to sweep out those broken glasses that pierce and cuts, drawing blood, so that wounds could healed and scars vanishing to allow joy and laughter to fill up its space once more......

Healing comes faster with a shower of love and care..kind and encouraging words, motivating, gently massaging ....that warmth seeps in ....absolutely comforting, reassuring....until the cold, damp emptiness, vanishes and confidence sings once more....

Goodness of the Geniune Kind-QUESTION

What is Genuine?? What is Sincere? We do not get very much of these values any more in this modern, advance and developed world. There is a question mark behind every smile, the show of friendship, the little praises, showered upon us, gifts, lunch treats etc..etc... In the good old days, it used to be smiles radiating from the heart..it used to be a genuine thanks in appreciation. Today it is merely a twitch of the muscle; a few bucks for more bucks concept. Words are just mere words to meet the occasion of the moment..lip service. It rarely flows with sincerity. Oh, we do have species with hearts that glow with goodness, and where-ever they walk, their footprints just glow out of the darkness! But that is so rare, so rare...that they are on the verge of extinct! Touch your hearts people and tell me that it is not true.

It is time that we practice some good old sincerity or has this good old virtue slipped too far into the ditch that it can no longer be salvaged?? I know of somebody who buys goodwill, with money and gifts and I wonder is this the world, we want our children and grandchildren to grow up in??

Is this the new standard for today's living??? Give something in return for another??? Barter Trade???? Don't we have any more goodness like, "appreciation" because I really, really, like you, really, really think the world of you you????

What is happiness??

To the young and strong, happiness is the gathering and harvesting of earthly treasures and more treasures. The young has boundless energy, they are adventurers and they have all the time in the world to experiment with different spices and scent in their lives. Life is about possession, assets, monetary achievements, power etc..etc..

To those who are journeying into their golden age, happiness becomes more spiritual...and rightfully! .....it is the attainment of contentment and peace within self. It is about knowing self and coming to terms with their own limitations, not trying to outshine others..just be happy they way they are....Be more aware of the blessings in their life.Be thankful, there is a meal on the table every day..Good strong limbs...good neighbours, just being able to walk for instance.

I don't know how many of you people out there still carry bag gages around you...at this very young age of autumn. If you are still struggling with your ego or concentrating hard on filling up your treasure chests when you already have plenty, then I feel sorry for you, because no one will ever know if they could see another sun rise, tomorrow.

If you have enough, take time dear people, to appreciate the people around you, feel and smell the cool fresh air after a downpour, observe the flight of the birds in the mornings and evenings.. how graceful and wondrous! Flowers on the road side....the shady trees ....Just so many things to appreciate and.....if you have never being charitable and kind to another person, perhaps it is time, you allow goodness to flow in and nourish your heart...people! strange as it may sound, it actually brings great happiness, just seeing the smile on another's face!

New Meaning of Wealth

Does anyone know the spelling and meaning of Wealth??? Spelt -COLD HARD CASH or HEALTH.....strong body, limbs and mind???

If you have money but no health, your money will not last...medical bills quickly drain away your fortune. And even if you have an ocean of COLD HARD CASH and ASSETS, you cannot even enjoy your wealth; you will be either too weak to eat, live life as you would like to or simply too busy just trying to stay alive, to enjoy your wealth in anyway.

Now, if you have the health, you have the vitality ; the ability to earn money and more money. And life is a joy because you get to taste the sweetness of living.

There is a chinese saying, " there is always money to be earn...the resources does not run dry'.Opportunities abound if one is willing to sweat and toil. No pain, no gain. Every street is paved with gold, if one is alert, resourceful enough and, of course, willing to work hard. Again, it comes with good seasoning. The importance of rest, relaxation and maintaining a good health regime. You cannot toil 24 hours and ignore the cries of your body-aches, pain, fatigue..... Have sufficient sleep to allow your body to heal and regain its strength.

Repeat, take time to have the occasional cup of coffee with your mates, the world is made up of lifeforms, people, societies, communities etc... Even an island has life forms and the life forms that dwell on it must interact and communicate....us humans need each other to ........just about everthing!

The New Wealth of this Era and that to come is GOOD HEALTH , Body and Mind People!!! We are flesh and blood and that comes complete with an ocean of complex emotions and feelings! Reflect!!

The Earthquake which struck Chile, Indonesia, Taiwan etc.. the tsunamis, the freak storms and flooding in many parts of the world should set our minds thinking.

There are so many money and power hungry - "Kiasu" people in this illusionary world, bent on making money, and more money..prestige ....- to attain the "have all" status and lifestyle they worship...and must have.

Some people spent their entire life chasing after the letter "M" word not caring about God, nature, loved ones, neighbours, etc..the world around them....Then oneday, disaster struck! Buildings fall down and were crushed to bits and pieces, homes were washed away. Their only possessions were the clothes on their back and their refuge-, the cold hard floor of the Red Cross Shelter..and yet they were thankful because they were still alive; their family too were still alive and with them. Now, They eat of the same food as the beggar down the road..., they were satisfied with old clothes given by charity....the walls dividing the different levels of society were now torn down .... no more distinction..no more class...all are now on the same level ...

People ! we came into this world with nothing..naked and we shall leave with nothing as well, just the spirit and soul, rising up to return home. Spend time to smell the roses, while you can.... build up people relationship and extend peace and care to one another...Life is more meaningful and joyous that way!!!

Good Food for the Sharing: Watch the tone of your voice

Good Food for the Sharing: Watch the tone of your voice

Watch the tone of your voice

The tone of your voice very much dictates which direction the conversation/situation will end up or flow..

Harsh, cold and threatening tones, brings negative results, anger, resentment and closed doors.

Friendly, respectful tones, almost always bring on the smiles and a handshake.

Speaking to a senior or a teenager?? Be very sensitive to their feelings. Both sets of hearts and nerves are very fragile, snaps and hurts easily!

But then, are'nt we all sensitive to how others treat us and speak to us?? We all want to be spoken to, in a polite and respectful way, especially in the presence of others!

Retirement

Wage earners! Never dream of retirement, unless you have sufficient means to live life in the same standards as when you were actively working and drawing a comfortable wage to- at least walk along with the Sams and the Toms of your community, the normal,,ordinary folks like you and me...Yes, you may have to put in a full day's work- five days, six days a week, and you come back tired, and you wish you could sleep in everyday....but hey, you have an identity, a life!- you have your network of friends..you could buy things you need, support your family, take the occasional holiday, you make your own decisions, you are a visible person with a voice which gets heard!

Many people do not realised that retirement means a loss of resources, a cut off from the constant supply of funds which keeps them visible, and vocal. The moment you tell people, you are retired, their questions are, "do you have enough savings to sub stain you, who is supporting etc..etc.. Thought of buying a new car? The bank will not loan you the money if you do not have sufficient deposits as collateral kept safely in their vaults. Try to hold a decent coversation? Dear people! You talk history while others speak "current", and that automatically puts you in the inactive category, people shy away from. Of course, you have the other retirees to sing along with you but...., it could be a pretty lonely affair at the end of the day. Yes, you could have all the rest and all the free time in the world to while away, but is it really good for you? Retirees...unretire yourselves! Be productive!

Never mind what people think....you yourself will realise after some time that your savings are draining off faster than you thought it would. You realised you have lost financial independence and you are no longer able to enjoy the little things in life, you so enjoy. Like the occasional cup of soul lifting coffee with your mates at Star Bucks for instance! And folks, you will find yourself moving further and further into the shadows and losing your voice in the process and that, people can be pretty painful and heart-breaking especially if you not have family support and care. Even if you do have the family support and care, it would not be the same as it were, if you were financially independent. It is the other way round now. You look up to your loved ones for survival instead of "the once upon a time......happier times." Also, it is really not very responsible to depend too much on your loved ones, eh folks? You really do not want to over burden them too much!

Retirement could bring anxieties and stress which could proved fatal, if you are ill-prepared for a life without income. Take an extended break if you need to, folks; but get back to work on the double once you have taken that much deserved break. You could live a happier, healthier and longer life, visible and appreciated!
